I’ve been in private practice for over a decade now. Since the onset of my career as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I’ve had the privilege of working on a one on one basis with individuals, families and groups.

About Iuri T. Melo:

My name is Iuri Tiago Melo.  I was Born in 1975 in Mozambique, Africa.  At that time, Mozambique was on the verge of gaining it’s own emancipation from the Portuguese government.  It was a time of revolution, of tribal warfare and much violence.  We were Portuguese and somewhat politically involved, and at that moment, we were no longer welcome there.  With some persuasion (death threats and machine guns) my family moved to the mainland of Portugal where i grew until the tender age of 15.  I moved to Provo, Utah.  Definitely a cultural shock, but a good one.  I finished high school, attended Ricks College in Idaho, then served a two year religious mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  After my Religious service I got my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Southern Utah University, and later finished my Masters in Clinical Social Work through the University of Utah.  I’m the youngest of three, and still referred by my siblings (and rightly so) as “the king.”

I married at the age of 23 to the most lovely, funny, and honest person I have ever met.  Her name is Katie, and together we have been blessed with five remarkable children.  My sweet Katie has dramatically impacted my life, she truly is the one who knows me the very best, in fact she would say “i know you better than you know yourself.”  I feel greatly indebted to her.  Her patience and long-suffering toward me has dramatically and steadily influenced the very core of who I am.  I truly love her.

Professionally i’m your dream therapist… i’m a super shrink!  In therapy as in other professions, you sometimes find people who just fit comfortably where they are.  Their style and character; their relationship with themselves and the world, propels them on a certain direction… a certain vocation, well, I was born to do what I do!

I have been in the trenches of  individual, and group therapy for over a decade now!  Thousands upon thousands of hours.  thousands of people, their deepest desires and struggles.   These rich and privileged experiences have prepared me to immediately recognize you and feel a genuine compassion for your travail.  I have a keen and accurate ability not only to identify, but to profoundly impact the way you interact with yourself, others and the world.  Some psychological realizations can become deep philosophical changes in your life.  These in turn can finally promote the peace and joy that you have been pursuing.  Look, you don’t have to be a rocket scientist, you just have to recognize the patterns, and live your life with your eyes wide open.  We don’t have to be lab rats spending our lives as maze runners (pun), we can awaken, and experience a personal renaissance that will lead to an increased ability to choose, and a pervasive joy born of peace.   So… “Today is your day, you’re off to great places! You’re off and away!”
